You can pick up the Lunge feat to extend your reach a bit further and be sure to cast any enlarging spells once they're available (frightful aspect is really nice for this approach, as is legendary proportions). You can get +4 caster lvls from DLC items I think so you only need combined 24 caster lvls from Angel and Cleric. Pure monk is fine, my favorite Kingmaker archetype is actually Sensei as a party-support / AC offtank hybrid.
